After spending so many years with her Aniruddh still was not able to understand this woman. She had issues.
He was a pragmatic man. Working hard for his family, loved his kids, took care of his home. His wife was just his wife. He didn’t have any special feelings for her but he did care for her. Not that she noticed or appreciated him. He always felt that Anjali was judging him and he was falling short.
Anjali tended to put him on trial every time. She questioned him and that didn’t sit well with him. He felt that she was always taking a moral high ground. Trying to belittle him. She wanted to ruin his mood and make him miserable.
He also had realised that she was a mood killer, a complainer and kept on harping about things. Tended to lecture everybody, especially him. He had started tuning her out very early in their marriage. She needed to sort herself. He was not responsible for her feelings.
And it was not as if she was doing what she was supposed to do. She was an okay mother but she was definitely not a good wife, daughter in law or sister in law. She had a bad temper, she reacted violently and she always misunderstood him. As a wife she fell short on most of the parameters.
She was not very pretty but she also did not work on herself. She had let herself go. She was sloppy and prone to accidents. She could not take care of anything and she expected too much out of him. Why couldn’t she just let him be…..
He had started hating and resenting her secretly. Maybe hate was a strong word but he definitely had started disliking her. Anjali was not at all person he wanted to spend his precious time and energy on. It was a necessary evil to tolerate her and that’s what he was willing to do……. Nothing more, nothing less
Aniruddh had never been the romantic type. He didn’t believe in expressing emotions. His wife was very emotional but lately she had become distant and cranky. She always picked fights and made him feel guilty. For things that he was perfectly right on.
There was a chasm and no one was willing to fill in. Both were content to let it be. Be distant, be cordial and just let each other be. Anjali wanted romance and affection. Aniruddh believed in keeping it light and simple. There was no need to overly express or explain. That he was around and present should be evidence enough for his commitment.
Why couldn’t she accept him as he was…. Why did she always have to complain and ruin things
Didnt she realise that her attitude was bringing down the whole vibe of the home….. He wished she would understand that life does not work in abstaracts but absolutes…. You cannot live in fantasy but have to face reality….
Life is not about feelings and emotions but discipline and committment….. he just wished she would understand………………….
